The right to reinstate the citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania is applied not only to persons of full legal age, but also to individuals under the age of 18, regardless of the fact that none of applicant’s parents had applied for the reinstatement of the citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania. We would like to point out that previously the position of the Migration Department was contrary (i.e. that (a) the right to reinstate the citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania had only the persons of full legal age and (b) that the citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania should not be reinstated if none of the applicant’s parents has the citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania) and this position was changed after our official appeal to Migration Department under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania.
